Personalization has been the holy grail in e-learning and is now considered as the desideratum of e-learning systems today. With the Covid-induced acceleration of hybrid learning models, especially with remote learning at the core – teacher-assisted and otherwise – the topic has been receiving a lot more attention and focus. However, much of e-learning systems and content are designed and deployed with a one-size-fits-all mindset and minimal ‘personalization’. At Liqvid we are working on a framework that combines learning insights, advanced mathematics and AI/ML to create personalized learning experiences for learners with the single-minded goal to significantly enhance learning effectiveness. Our framework construes e-learning as a multi-modal system around the following three dimensions: Cognitive State (proficiency) of the learner (cognitive agent), Individual Learning Style (style agent) and Emotional State of the learner (emotional agent). I will cover how we have used a large amount of data to create these engines and our learnings about the outcomes achieved and challenges involved.
