SHAPE UAE Online | 26 August 2020
Her Excellency Jameela Al Muhairi
Her Excellency Jameela Al Muhairi delivered an opening presentation on the impact Covid-19 has had on education in the UAE, and how their government’s forward-thinking vision resulted in all learners in the UAE having access to tech and online learning during the pandemic.
We are very grateful to Her Excellency for her thought-provoking and insightful opening address.
Developing a hybrid educational model in a post-Covid world
Beyond Blended Learning, was the latest entry in the calendar for SHAPE Education. The event on 26 August 2020 was hosted by Cambridge Assessment in partnership with Alef Education, a leading K-12 education technology company based in the United Arab Emirates. The focus of the event was to focus on the impact Covid-19 has had on the K12 sector and to collaboratively design what a new model of education in K12 could look like in the Covid-19 context and beyond.
Experts discussed the long-term impacts on education in the United Arab Emirates. The event brought together teachers, parents, learners, policy-makers, tech gurus, education experts and government representatives, to look at what models of education may look like in the future.

Invaluable insights from learners and their parents
Learners and their parents shared the impact Covid-19 has had on their experiences personally. We asked what the benefits and drawbacks to both school and online learning environments are, and what would they like to see in the future.
“The current hybrid model of remote and in-class learning has dramatically changed the way we view technology and has fast-tracked the digital education market at a disruptive rate on a global scale.”

Closing remarks
“I’d like to thank everyone for helping to make today’s conference such a big success. I’m sure you’ll agree it’s been a worthwhile entry in the on-gong SHAPE initiative, in albeit rather different circumstances this year. I’d like to give a special thanks to our colleagues at Alef Education who worked so hard with us behind the scenes to deliver today’s programme. I know everyone at Alef shares our desire to solve educational challenges and connect people through technology which is the golden thread running through SHAPE.”
